MINISTRY UPDATE
Locally here in Northern Kentucky the ministry is stronger than it’s ever been in the past. We currently have 102 placed leaders and 27 freshman college students entering into our fall Leader Training. It’s been really fun to experience the growth. We have an amazing set of older leaders, almost every one of our 17 high school teams (and 2 middle school) is run by a veteran older married couple. Our Navigator Friends ministry just had their largest day camp ever with over 100 students and over 100 buddies… It was so cool. Here’s a link to a video that we made for the week.
Things may be larger than ever, but we still just do the same thing… Proclaim the good news of Jesus to high school students and then try to help them know Christ deeply - hopefully becoming disciple makers themselves. “To know Christ, to make Him known and to help others do the same”
Summer camp has gone as we had hoped and envisioned when we started this road 2 1/2 years ago. We have found camps that are similar to what we are used too and we rent the camp for the week. We have been able to significantly reduce the cost for students to go to camp, as the cost this year was in the $6-700 range. Most other cities are asking students to pay over $1000 for a similar camp experience. The great thing has been that God has really shown us that the power in the camp experience only requires the presence of the gospel and the presence of the leaders/core students. Students speak just as highly of their camp experience as they used to. The amount of work/planning, work force and money that we have needed to create the camp week has been a lot. But we have such amazing people in the Navigators who have worked so hard and God has provided the resources we have needed and it’s been awesome. Here are some links to videos from our past two years of camp weeks.

The most amazing thing though has been the spiritual response from students. This past summer 275 students stood up at the say so meeting at the end of the week. We’ve never seen anything like that and it was really crazy. We had a significant number of students respond to the gospel at weekend camp in the fall/winter last year as well… In the end well over 400 high school students said yes to taking a new path with Jesus this past school year. I think there is something about Gen Z that makes them super ripe for the gospel. They just seem really hungry for truth and to be loved. We are using all the navigator resources we can find and working diligently to follow up all these young souls. As they may be responding well to the gospel but this generation is not inclined to seriously follow Jesus.
THE NAVIGATORS HIGH SCHOOL VISION - www.navigatorshighschool.org
We are so blessed here by Gods work among teenagers. Every public high school in NKY has a team of missionaries bringing the gospel to its campus. But we have found out that things aren’t like this in most places. Cities like Detroit, Indianapolis and Chicago have campus ministries in only 5-15% of the high schools in that city. There are literally hundreds of thousands of teenagers walking through THE MOST OPEN/RIPE time of their life without anyone bringing the good news to them in a way they understand. (Barna statistics report that 85% of Christians began their faith before they were 18). Our leaders' hearts break for these thousands of teens. So we are sending missionary teams to these cities with the specific purpose of starting campus ministry on campuses without work. One team will leave this fall for Detroit. And then in the summer of 2026 a team will head to Indianapolis and one team to Chicago. Please PRAY for the work. Less than 8% of GenZ (teens) now believe the gospel - American teenagers are an incredibly lost people group. But they are also a searching group - please PRAY for our work here and future work in Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis.
Our first team has already started moving to Detroit and will be fully there within a month or two. Helping these folks in their new ministry places has reminded us many times of when the Northern Kentucky ministry was first started. We are not just in these three or four counties here in Northern Kentucky now, but we are helping in these other cities as well. On this web page is a link to a YouTube video that we are using to explain what the Navigators high school ministry is doing. It explains the six main elements of a Navigators High School ministry.
We are thankful for the last 28 years of ministry and all that God has done through all the leaders, and can’t wait to see what he has in store for the next 28. If you have any questions regarding this update, please reach out. We would love to hear from you! Lastly, if you feel led to, please pray for us and the leaders! There are many volunteer leaders sacrificing countless hours to reach and help thousands of NKY students everyday!
For God’s love,
Rick, Amy, all the leaders, and the NKY committee
NKY Navigator High School Student Ministry is a Christian ministry that reaches out to high school and at times middle school students. We have been active as a ministry in NKY for over 28 years. Volunteer leaders are recruited and trained to mentor and disciple others in the Christian faith. Our hope is to reach young people who need faith, help them walk in faith and then help them learn to help others.

Who are The Navigators?
The Navigators® is an international, interdenominational Christian ministry established in 1933. Navigators are people who love Jesus Christ and desire to help others know and grow in Him as they “navigate” through life.
Our slogan, “To Know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same®,” aptly describes what Navigators do. As we befriend those who don’t know Jesus or those just starting out in their relationship with Him, we show them how to grow and help others grow, too.
We help people “navigate” life by establishing Life-to-Life® mentoring—or discipling—relationships with them, equipping them to make an impact on those around them for God’s glory. These life-changing relationships are formed on college campuses, on military installations, in neighborhoods, churches, and even high-rise apartment buildings.
Our mission is based on the Bible, God’s Word. Desiring to fulfill 2 Timothy 2:2, Navigators seek to forward the grace and teachings of Christ from one believer to the next—what we call “generational multiplication.”
Today, the Navigator staff family—4,600 strong—includes 70 nationalities, 130 languages, and numerous heritages and life experiences. The Navigator family also includes those who work alongside and support our staff, whose hearts beat with the passion of our motto, “To know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same.”
